El problema campesino en la Revolución Mexicana

    Robert Mroziewicz (Varsovia)

Abstract/description:

The article analyzes the Mexican revolution in relation to the situation of Mexico’s rural population. The campesinos (villagers) are identified as a major force behind the revolution. This is due to the social inequality and contrasts in pre-Revolution Mexican society as well as the “agrarian question” (presence of 10 million landless, migratory agricultural workers). The article describes the structure of land use in relation to ethnicity and occupation. It also presents an historical overview of the “agrarian reform” in the course of the Mexican revolution. The article concludes that thr end results of land use reforms present a form of social agreement between two social groups active in the revolution: bourgeoisie and peasantry.

Estructura agraria de México después de la realización de la reforma agraria

    Klara Bobińska (Varsovia)

Abstract/description:

The agrarian reform announced in 1915 initiated radical changes in Mexico’s agrarian economy. This reform was triggered by the Mexican Revolution of 1910. The article focuses on describing developments in agriculture. The developments are described through the lens of land ownerships. Cited macroeconomic data suggests that the private sector facilitated faster agricultural developments than other branches of the economy.

Aculturación de los Indios de México

    Maria Frankowska (Poznań)

Abstract/Description:

Maria Frankowska’s essay discusses the processes of “acculturation” of Mexican cultures. The processes of mixing cultures and ethnic groups are described as beginning in the distant past and as continuing to the present. Frankowska uses numerous examples from pre-Columbian periods, starting with interactions between the barbaric Chichimeca and the civilized Tolteca. The various interactions between Spanish and indigenous populations are then described to portray another example of another kind of acculturation. The situation of indigenous cultures in relation to Modern Mexican culture is then described and the author claims that different stages or phases of this acculturation can be still observed in Mexico.

Tendencias de desarrollo del ayllu peruano (siglos XIV-XX)

    Jan Szemiński (Varsovia)

Abstract/Description

The Ayllu is an Andean societal model. Jan Szemiński reconstructs the ayllu in the pre-Incan and Tawantinsuyu periods. He investigates the social hierarchies, relations between social groups and land ownership issues of the pre-Columbian ayllu. He then describes the transformations of the ayllu and related cultural continuities of the Colonial period. In the independent Peru period collective land ownership was combated by Peruvian elites to facilitate individual ownership among the indigenous. Despite such policies, many indigenous communities practicing collective land ownership survived to the 20th Century.
